The EOSA experience can be a bit daunting given the number of events, swimmers, officials and spectators, but ROCS swimmers, including first-time participants, took this in stride, racing to best-ever swims in a wide array of events. Well-done swimmers and coaches!
Thanks very much to our families for the wonderful “cheering” section, and to our members who took on officiating tasks – all of this support was most appreciated during the weekend.

Swimming in her first-ever EOSA Championships, Sara Anderson experienced this event as a relay participant. She swam well in the two relays, which Coach Claudia noted was a “good introductory EOSA experience”!
Julian Mollot-Hill found himself juggling an important school event with his first trip to EOSA, which created a few scratches, but didn’t affect his performance in the events he was able to swim. Julian posted excellent time drops in the 50 and 200 Free, for 6th and 7th place respectively, and capped-off his performance with a gold-medal swim in the 50 Backstroke - an exciting debut Julian!

Nakita Steele, in her first EOSA Championships had a great meet, earning 5 personal bests, and placing 8th in the 50 Breaststroke – Well-done Nakita!
Jordan Storm, also swimming in her first EOSA meet, had several best times (over 7 seconds off her 400 Free), and swam a superb 200 Back, placing 6th in a swim that bettered her previous best by 15 seconds! Congratulations Jordan!
Shannon Phee, a “veteran” racer, was just flying, clocking six best times, and earning a Silver in the 200 Breaststroke (with over a 7 second time drop), and a Bronze medal in the 50 Fly – wonderful racing Shannon!
Dylan Phee, also raced a great meet with exceptional time drops in his 400 IM (13 seconds) and 200 Fly (taking off almost 15 seconds from the Mike Brown Meet). He also swam best times in 3 other events, including the 100 Fly where his 6 second time-drop earned him a Silver medal. Great performance Dylan!
Silver Group
Alex Auster was impressive in the breaststroke events, with silver and bronze medals in the 100 and 50, respectively. He set personal bests in every event he swam, had 3 other top 8 finishes besides his two medals, and made the provincial pre-requisites in the 800 free and 400 IM. Excellent work Alex!
Frances Grace Fyfe swam very well this past weekend, setting personal bests in all her events save the 800 free, where, despite goggles that came loose on the start and eventually fell off, she gave a gutsy performance that still came close to p.b. Good work F.G.!
Isabel Bermudez Pizano also set personal bests in every event she swam at EOSA, highlighted by her performance in the 50 back, in which she qualified for the consolation final and finished 13th in the 15 and over age category. Congrats Isabel!
Jon Stevens had several excellent swims over the weekend, the highlight of which was his performance in the 15 and over 200 fly, where he qualified for the consolation final and placed 11th, with a total improvement of nearly 25 seconds. Well-done Jon!
Katharina Auster did a fantastic job over the weekend, with top 10 finishes in every event she swam and almost all personal bests. Congratulations to Kat on her bronze medal in the 50 breast in the girls 11-year old age category!
Lauren Mouser had an amazing weekend with personal bests in every event she swam. She finished no worse than 8th place in any of her events, and won a gold in the girls 11-year-old 50 fly and silver in the 50 back, as well as making the 800 free provincial standard. Superbly done Lauren!
Lianna Grace made a strong statement that she is among the region’s top 11-year-old female swimmers with medals in all of her events save one. She won four bronze medals in the 400 IM, 400 free, 100 back and 100 breast, and a silver in the 200 breast. Congratulations to Lianna on her outstanding results!
Owen Saunders did a very good job at his first regional championship meet. He had personal bests in every event save one, and took home 8th place after qualifying for the A final in the 13-14 boys 50 back. Good job Owen!
Rebecca Godin had a strong weekend with personal bests in the 100 free and 200 fly, making a second swim in the B final in the latter event. She also contributed two strong swims to the senior girl’s medley and freestyle relays. Keep up the good work Rebecca!
Rebecca Wang performed well at the EOSA championships with four top-10 finishes, and narrowly missed the podium in the girls 13-14 50 breast, finishing fourth. She also handily won the B final of the 50 fly in a personal best time. Congratulations Rebecca!
Rosalie Cappuccino gave a very solid performance on the weekend, despite still being affected by chest congestion that had interrupted her sleep leading into the meet. She took home a gold in the 12 year-old girls 50 back, and bronze in the 50 breast. She had two other top-8 finishes and overall did a great job at EOSA. Way to go Rosie!
Special Note: Matthew Fyfe was also meant to swim, but an ear issue prevented his participation (our best wishes for the LC meet Matt!). Thanks and congratulations to Marshall Steele, who was able to step in to lead off the Medley relay, and to Tyson Steele, who swam the anchor on the Free relay – they both had best times and swam an excellent race!
In sum, as coaches Claudia and Nico noted, “There was lots to be proud of”! Congrats to all!
Our last short-course race of the season will take place at Brewer Pool on Saturday, February 18th. This meet provides an opportunity for our Swim School 2 and 3 members to join the competitive swimmers, and we wish everyone well at this event!
