Meech Lake Triathlon - July 3rd
At one of the club’s perennial favourites, the Meech Lake event had a smaller following this year, with just three ROCS swimmers in the line-up. Competing in a field of 208, Garrett DeJong was 7th overall, and 8th overall in the swim; and close on his heels was Dave Markin, who placed 9th overall, and 17th in the swim, while Leslie Sanderson was 23rd overall, 1st woman overall and 14th overall in the swim. (For Leslie this represented the second year in a row that she’s won the women’s event!) Our numbers may have been small – but the top 10 finishes were awesome! Congratulations all!
Subaru Half Ironman (Peterborough) - July 4th
And the next day, in Peterborough, Dave Markin was back on the course competing in a strenuous half-Ironman event. Congratulations to Dave on completing this fitness challenge weekend with another excellent result! Of the 454 athletes in attendance, Dave came an exciting 16th overall, and was 28th overall in swim!
